This double LP was released by trumpeter Woody Shaw on the Contemporary label in 1971. It is kind of free and funky and bop-ish. I'd guess that any fan of Bitches Brew would enjoy this, at least to some extent, since the influence is evident. Playing alongside Shaw is Gary Bartz on saxophones, Bennie Maupin on tenor sax, bass clarinet and flute, George Cables on piano and rhodes, Ron Carter and Clint Houston on bass (one per channel) and Lenny White on drums. New World is probably my favourite since im a sucker for funky basslines.
- Blackstone Legacy
- Think On Me
- Lost And Found
- New World
- Boo-Ann's Grand
- A Deed For Dolphy
So i got a complaint regarding this link and I took it down. Its a good record. Track it down!

Very nice upload Thank you.
I would like to know if this rip is from vinyl or the CD. Thanks, for the great music.
Sorry I didn't check you sayin' that only rip vinyls.
You must have a gem in original form then, because I've just read a note in the CD back cover of the Blackstone Legacy 1999 remastered reissue and says this:
The total time of the LP was 81:58 which exceeds the capacity of a single CD by more than 2 min. In order to accomodate as much as the music is possible for CD release without deleting tracks, "Lost and Found" & "New World" appear in slightly edited form.
Cheers
